Author Guidelines

The Journal of Aesthetic Surgery (JAS) invites the submission of original, high-quality manuscripts that advance the science and clinical practice of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine relevance, scientific merit, and alignment with the journal’s aims and scope. Manuscripts considered suitable are forwarded for rigorous double-blind peer review.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all submitted work adheres to the highest standards of scientific integrity and publication ethics. Any material reproduced from other sources—including figures, photographs, tables, or datasets—must be accompanied by appropriate permissions. All individuals listed as authors must meet internationally recognized authorship criteria and provide explicit consent for publication.

Research involving human participants must be conducted in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and approved by an appropriate institutional ethics committee or review board. Where applicable, informed consent must be obtained and documented. Authors should clearly state ethical approval and consent procedures within the manuscript.

The journal reserves the right to decline submissions that do not meet established standards of methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and clinical relevance. Authors are strongly encouraged to ensure clarity of presentation, precision in reporting, and strict adherence to the journal’s formatting requirements prior to submission. Titles should be concise and informative. Abstracts must accurately summarize the study’s objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions to the Journal of Aesthetic Surgery (JAS) must comply with the following requirements prior to final confirmation:

▢ The manuscript has been prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines and follows the required formatting standards of JAS.

▢ The work is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by another journal.

▢ All listed authors have made substantial contributions to the study, approved the final version, and consent to submission.

▢ Ethical approval has been obtained where required, and the study complies with the Declaration of Helsinki and relevant institutional regulations.

▢ Written informed consent has been obtained from all patients involved, including consent for publication of identifiable clinical images where applicable.

▢ All references have been carefully checked for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

▢ All tables, figures, and supplementary materials are properly labeled and cited within the manuscript.

▢ Any financial support, funding sources, and potential conflicts of interest have been fully disclosed.

▢ Permission has been secured for any copyrighted materials reproduced in this manuscript.

▢ Clinical trials (if applicable) have been registered in a publicly accessible registry prior to patient enrollment.

▢ The manuscript adheres to appropriate reporting guidelines (e.g., CONSORT, PRISMA, STROBE, CARE) when applicable.
